Sacramento California Career Development Association kicked-off their 2nd successful 2016 networking event on Thursday, February 18th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event was hosted by the Northwestern Mutual Insurance Internship Program. An insightful, eye-opening workshop, “Working with a Multigenerational Workforce,” was facilitated by Gavan Ambrosini from the California Employers Association.
The evening took-off as the participants broke up into multigenerational groups discussing, “What makes a generation?” The responses of Traditionalists, Baby-boomers, Gen-Xers and Millennials varied but shared a common thread of what we need to do and understand to work together, as cohesively and effectively as possible, in a multigenerational workforce. Ideally there is the need to accept the workforce we are operating in and avoid making quick reactions, judgements and assumptions. In addition, we can welcome differences, share with each other and learn from a multitude of generational communication styles, work styles and work values.
The night came to a close as awareness and insight permeated throughout the room with the anticipation of introducing Generation Z’s to a future discussion of the ever-changing, ever-evolving workforce.
You won't want to miss the next SAC-CCDA event, a Networking Pizza Social in April. Time and place to be announced.
